At a meeting last Monday, the engineering firm discussed the scope of the contract with commissioners. Branton Sorbel with Morrison Maierle said the company was brought on board in the spring of 2024 to look at deck replacement. While they w...

  • Our Viewpoint: New year, new resolutions

    Annie Wooden|Jan 2, 2025

The anticipation and the excitement of the new year has come and gone. Now we’re stuck with those pesky resolutions. Did you make a resolution? If so, have you kept it for these first few days of 2025? A friend and I discussed resolutions recently and came to the conclusion that we needed simple, attainable goals for 2025, so I’m sharing that realization with our readers. Instead of saying you’ll exercise or read every day, or you’ll be nicer, try making a resolution with a clear finish line. For example my friend, who like me is in her mid...

  • Montana Viewpoint

    Jim Elliott|Jan 2, 2025

There are apparently differences in the expectations of those in the new Trump administration who oppose immigration. Some like Laura Loomer, influencer-at-large expected that all immigration would be curtailed and undocumented immigrants expelled. Others, like Elon Musk and everybody else in the world of high-tech industries, didn’t think the ban would include people who worked for them. These are known as “special skills” jobs, and apparently not enough American workers have the “spec...

  • Don't tax the right to live here

    Jan 2, 2025

Jim Elliott has just noticed what we who left California 20 years had already experienced: what they affectionately, in their socialist wisdom, the "view shed" not yet "taxed", but taxing to anyone who chose to build a home on lawfully purchased land near some weanies who could not stand to lose what they thought was their - and only their - right to enjoy an unencumbered view of some pre-human-existing "shed". What can we expect now - now that Jim Elliott has decided to advertise for yet another TAX on our rights to live in Montana?...
