Without Haagenson, the festival celebrating the tart, yet sweet little purple berry was in jeopardy of concluding. "I just love the event as a whole," shared...

  • Respect for country's history

    Jan 9, 2020

Editor: There is no Constitutional crisis, only a need to follow the United States Constitution. Our forefathers gave with faith in God and courage to sign their names to a declaration. Creating a Republic, if we can keep it! Do we have the common sense to teach our children at home and at school, that freedom is important? Can we put God back where He belongs? We are being shackled by laws and regulations that hamper the free enterprise system. If our young school children don’t know the history of our country and respect for how we came to b...

  • Montana Viewpoint

    Jim Elliott|Jan 9, 2020

As you know, the impartiality of decisions and observations of members of the U.S. intelligence agencies, such as the FBI, have been questioned because members of those agencies have privately expressed political views not in accordance with the political views of Members of Congress. The most obvious of these were the emails of two FBI members who were critical, in their personal correspondence, of the President. That they were dumb about thinking that their views would go unnoticed by the...

No more waiting on spring to clean. The start of a new year is now the time to organize and declutter your home. Before you go into purge mode, keep in mind, this doesn’t have to be a marathon. All you need to begin are a few minutes every day. Start will a small area, like a drawer or a cabinet, that way you won’t become overwhelmed before you even start. Toss out anything empty, or that you don’t use anymore. That’s it, once you clean drawer, call it good, and begin the next day. You will find that you are much more motivated to start a...

PLAINS – Back in black – and making a statement. The Thompson Falls Blue Hawk boys, wearing their mostly black road uniforms, turned back Sanders County rival Plains in Plains for a surprising 67-48 win over their Sanders County rivals Friday. Coming off a lackluster home loss to Libby before the holidays, the Hawks were all business, and all action in Plains. "That was nice to see us get off the snide like that," coach Jake Mickelson said of the win, Thompson Falls' first of the 2019-2020 sea...

  • Heat learning to compete

    John Hamilton|Jan 9, 2020

There is really no shame in losing. Not when you are contemplating ways to get better by putting your heads together and talking things out; by attempting to make yourselves better for the next time out. Coach Scott Fredrickson and his Hot Springs Savage boys may have lost to Mission 72-51 Friday but he was surprised, and pleased, with what he was hearing from his players immediately afterwards. “They were talking about things they could do better, ways of dealing with different things out there on the court,” he said. “And I was really encou...

    John Hamilton|Jan 9, 2020

Those dreaded post-holiday blues. One day you are sitting in the living room watching bowl games and eating to your heart's content and the next thing you know its basketball season again. Plains coach Tyrel Allen was not overly...
