    Jan 16, 2020

President Trump’s decision to take out Iranian General Qasem Soleimani has generated a great deal of controversy. While no one can predict what the future holds, we can confidently look back at recent history to see what would likely happen if our President hadn’t taken such decisive action. How many readers remember a terrorist thug named Osama bin Laden and September 11, 2001? I certainly do, and after that tragedy, I became a student of that incident. In preparing for this column, I revisited numerous books and articles regarding Osama bin L...

  • Many houseplants thrive in low light

    Miriah Kardelis|Jan 16, 2020

A big deterrent that keeps many people from hopping on the houseplant bandwagon is insufficient lighting conditions in their home. Many homes miss out on the direct sunlight during the day. In fact, there are many rooms that don’t get any sunlight at all. While this may sound all too familiar, fear not. There are a number of houseplants that thrive on the poor lighting in the average home. There are even plants that will suffer, if they are put in direct sunlight. Another benefit of these types of plants is that most of the time they are low m...
