  • Heat girls stay the course

    John Hamilton|Jan 30, 2020

Now 6-1 in District 14C play and 12-1 overall, coach Richard Jackson and his Hot Springs Savage Heat girls are still unimpressed with themselves and eager to get on with the rest of the season. Hot Springs won both games they played last week, defeating Two Eagle River 69-15 in Pablo Thursday and taking down Troy in Hot Springs Friday. The score from the Troy game was not available. Still seeming to be smarting from a tough 43-40 loss to Charlo Jan. 15, the Heat will get a chance to avenge that defeat in Hot Springs Feb. 15 when coach Bret...

    John Hamilton|Jan 30, 2020

There is a sense of urgency with Noxon Lady Red Devil basketball lately. As in hurry, get that girl to the emergency room, she is really sick! Sending players to the ER following two of last week’s three games, the still-sick but still-playing Lady Red Devils won two of the three, falling 66-23 to the Lady Hawks in Thompson Falls Jan. 21 and then upending Clark Fork (Idaho) 49-45 in Noxon Friday and Two Eagle River 67-25 in Pablo Saturday. After the Thompson Falls game, Noxon starter Chelsea Vohs, coach Cortney Voh’s step-daughter, was taken to...

You put some O (offense) together with good D (defense) and you can get the W (the win). Hot Springs boys basketball coach Scott Fredrickson and his Savage Heat are sticking with that basic plan, and moved to two more wins last week using it, holding off Two Eagle River 79-67 in Pablo Thursday and returning to Hot Springs Friday and defeating Troy 67-49. All in on offense, defense and winning some more, the Savage Heat play Valley C...

    John Hamilton|Jan 30, 2020

The Noxon Red Devil boys won two of three games last week, falling to Thompson Falls 68-34 in Thompson Falls Tuesday before coming back to defeat Clark Fork (Idaho) 39-36 in Noxon Friday and Two Eagle River 55-53 in Pablo Saturday. Coach Ryan Weltz and his Red Devils have two District 14C conference games on tap this week, visiting St. Regis Friday and hosting Charlo Saturday. Nate Cano and Rylan Weltz scored 12 points apiece to lead the Devils past Clark Fork, Brody Hill added six, Aiden Galloway and Wyatt Lackner four each and Michael...

    Jan 30, 2020

Students from Noxon and Plains performed earlier this month at the 2020 All-Star Honor Choir concert hosted by the University of Montana. For the event, students must first be nominated by their directors as top students of their program and then are chosen to be selected by University staff.
