  • Trotters look to keep improving

    John Hamilton|Feb 4, 2021

The Plains Trotters are working on turning their frustration into elation; or at least into better seeding position for the upcoming tournament. Fresh off a tough 54-15 loss to District 14C-leading Charlo in Charlo Friday, coach Eddie Fultz and his Trotters will play Clark Fork in Superior Friday and will visit Noxon Saturday in another pair of conference games. "This is a big week for us, we need to start thinking about seeding into our tournament," he said. "We want to put ourselves in the best possible position, and to be playing our best as...

Playing their first weekend without one of their team leaders, the Hot Springs Savage Heat fell to Clark Fork 63-30 in Alberton Thursday and then to St. Regis 54-40 in Hot Springs Friday. Looking to fill the very large shoes left by the injury to junior Katelyn Christensen, the Savage Heat played well at times, but ultimately went down to defeat. The riding got a little rough for the Hot Springs Savage Heat boys last week as coach Scott Fredrickson and his hoop crew absorbed a pair of District 14C conference losses, falling 65-43 to Clark Fork in Alberton Thursday and 74-52 to the Tigers in Hot Springs Friday. Now 4-4 in conference play and overall, the Heat play at 4-3, 5-3 Charlo Thursday in their only game of the week. • Lady Devils score big against Charlo

    John Hamilton|Feb 4, 2021

Nobody has beaten the Charlo Lady Vikings yet but the Noxon Lady Red Devils gave them a good run Saturday. Coach Cortney Vohs and her Lady Devils played the unbeaten, District 14C-leading Vikings twice last week, falling 40-17 in Noxon Tuesday and then scoring a season-high 41 points on the Vikings in a 59-41 loss at Charlo Saturday. “We were able to score on them about as well as anyone has this season,” she said. The Red Devils outscored Charlo 23-18 in the second half, but a 39-18 deficit at halftime was too much to overcome. Avery Bur...

  • Modern Homesteader

    Miriah Kardelis|Feb 4, 2021

Anybody and everybody knows that homesteading isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s hard work. It’s a heavy responsibility. Whether you consider yourself a pro, or a beginner like myself, people will always face setbacks and loss. It’s been nearly a month now, since our area faced one of Montana’s most historical windstorms. Driving home that day, I was shocked at all the damage I saw. Trees torn up from their roots, laid across highways, roads and homes. The loss of electricity that had everyone searching for gasoline to fuel their generator...
