After opening the tourney with a 57-48 win over Sanders County rival Noxon in the first round Thursday, coach Cameron Barber and his Heat fell to the top-seeded Arlee Warriors 87-55 in the semifinals Friday before fighting back to eliminate St. Regis in a loser-out game Saturday morning. • Heat girls lose 2 tough games

    John Hamilton|Feb 21, 2019

PABLO – The ones that get away make you play harder the next time you get a chance. The Hot Springs Savage Heat girls, after a disastrous second quarter led to a 57-38 victory for St. Regis in the first round Thursday, dropped a loser out game to Plains 52-41 Saturday and completed season play at the District 14C tournament in Pablo. After defeating St. Regis twice in the regular season, coach Richard Jackson and his still-young Savage Heat were hoping for bigger and better things in Pablo. “I guess it wasn’t meant to be this season,” Jackson...

In the junior high tourney Saturday, Paul Sundstrom took second in the 68 pound division, Elijah Ratliff won third at 130 pounds...

The Lady Devils, after falling to Plains in the first round Thursday, came b...

    John Hamilton|Feb 21, 2019

PABLO – The Noxon Red Devil boys completed season play at the District 14C tournament in Pablo last week, falling 57-48 to county rival Hot Springs Thursday and being eliminated 40-32 by another county foe Plains, Saturday. A slow start against Hot Springs may have been the ultimate difference in that game as the Heat led 10-0 by late in the first quarter and still led 10-2 at the end of the first quarter. “We came back a little there to tighten things up and then Hot Springs went on another little run,” Devil coach Bart Haflich said, “but...
