In technology, progress is the name of the game. And in the rural hospital setting, keeping an edge on the tech game has been the priority at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. The latest example of that strategy is the recent acquisition of new equipment in the imaging department of the hospital – an acquisition that puts CFVH ahead of the game, even compared to large regional hospitals. "This is state of the art, top of the line equipment. The most advanced presently available in the world," said D...
Blown away by wind and snow and rain. A slew of games, matches and meets were cancelled last week due to some of Montana's famous early-spring or, depending on how you look at it, late-winter weather. Although many of those sporting events will be made up, others may simply not be contested this spring and will be filed into the trash bin of wasted opportunities for the prep athletes of western Montana. Fortunately, our three months of February weather should break soon and the athletes can then...

Laughter, camaraderie and fun is sure to be shared by all who attend. Proceeds from the event will help fund travel for Noxon’s Business Professionals of America national competitors. They will...
It wasn’t the best weather for a golf tournament, but the Florence/Darby Invitational was played in Hamilton last Tuesday and the Thompson Falls Blue Hawk boys and girls teams were there. “It was cold and windy but the kids played through it,” coach Mike Bates said. “It wasn’t the best of conditions but that seems to be what we are getting this season.” Playing through the best for the Hawks, Dylan Beckman and Elsie Brown carded rounds of 82 and 98, respectively, to lead their teammates back to the Hamilton clubhouse. Beckman finished se...

The 2018 Spring Mack Days Fishing Event is just about halfway over with 12 days of weekend fishing completed and five weekends to go. A total of 15,924 entries have been turned in, compared with 17,319 in the 2017 Spring Event. Unsettled spring weather has hampered the anglers with winds, cold, snow, rain, rough water, hail, and ice. Friday was very cold with ice covering everything on the south end of the lake in the morning. Anglers could not launch on the water until after noon. The north half of the lake was a little better and some...
