"Considering the cold weather, the team did reasonably well," said Plains Coach Rachel Chenoweth. Four Horsemen achieved personal records at the meet: Asher Seymour, Mike Reistroffer, Mason Elliott and Levi Blood. Elliot won third place in the varsity 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.98. Jennifer Curran|May 11, 2023

Plains was defeated 8-3 last Friday against the Lincoln County Lions in Eureka. The Lions came out strong, grabbing five runs in the first two innings. “It was a tough loss, but we had some younger girls make some great plays,” said Coach Kati Mitchell. Bats were swinging but not making the crack needed for the hits. Lions pitcher Ellie Durden struck out 11 Trotters. Carlie Wagoner slugged a triple, while Maddy Blood and Izzy Crabb hit doubles. The team as a whole pounded out seven hits to the Lions nine hits. Stealing bases was a theme of the...

Thompson Falls and Plains golf teams faced the Missoula Ranch Club golf course last Monday, an 18-hole, par-72 course. It’s one of the more majestic courses to play. “The golfers had a beautiful day and enjoyed a challenging course,” said Thilmony. Cael Thilmony scored an 88 with s...

The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks lost 7-5 in an edge of the seat game against the Lincoln County Lady Lions last Thursday. The Hawks had a 5-1 run lead going into the sixth inning. But the Lions had another plan, scoring six runs in the sixth inning alone for the win. Coach Jared Koskela said the Lions figured out how to hit Olivia Fitchett’s pitches. “The team who adjusts quicker to the pitcher will get the upper hand. They adjusted and we didn’t,” said Koskela. Fitchett pitched the Lady Lions a couple of doubles and Maura Miller a triple....

    Ed Moreth|May 11, 2023

The Plains Cheetos won their first game of the season recently when they defeated Superior 17-16 in the bottom of the fourth inning at the Amundson Sports Complex in Plains. "The boys played well. We've been working on preventing steals in practice and they did a great job keeping the steals under control," said Amy McGraw, head coach for the Cheetos, a name the kids voted to use. The minors level is the first one to get actual pitchers. Rookies use a pitching machine and in the youngest level,...
