    Showcasing their hard work and talents at the 6B District meet in Eureka last weekend were the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks and Plains Horsemen/Trotters. Many athletes qualified and will be moving onto Divisionals. The Blue Hawk girls team seized second place with 110 points edging out the Eureka Lions team who had 98 points.     If it’s one thing the Trotters softball team has, it’s grit and determination. The team has been clinching in the wins and with two home victories last Thursday they are a team to be reckoned with. Home runs were a theme for the first game with a 13-11 win against Troy.     A group of Sanders County kids received some special coaching from the University of Montana last week at Plains. Jay Landham, a coach for the Lady Griz soccer team, spent two hours with youth soccer players from Plains, Thompson Falls, and St. Regis with his "Coach J's Keeper Clinic" at the Amundson Sports Complex.     The 2023 high school golf season may be over for some but the sport can be a lifetime passion. Senior Colton Wormwood told his coach Doree Thilmony the day after the divisionals, that he was headed out to play golf. Last Tuesday golfers from Plains and Thompson Falls were able to compete in the Divisional Tournament at the Indian Springs Golf Club in Eureka.     Last week marked the end of the season but a start for a new tradition in Plains sports. It was the first time the Plains Horsemen has had a baseball team and it was a huge success with a lot of support from parents, the community and the school. Coach Rick Powers said if the parents want to keep it going, he’s in for the next season. The team played three games last week. The first was a 10-0 loss against Florence. Low team gross went to Megan Baxter and Doree Thilmony with a 99, and Penny Beckman and Ruth Kronfuss had the low individual net of 69.
