The Lady Hawk softball team is experiencing a bit of deja vu this week. In May of 2023, the Hawks finished fourth in the Western divisional tournament and met Shepherd, the No. 1 team from the east, in the first round of the state tournament. After finishing No. 4 in the divisional tournament last weekend in Missoula, this week the Hawks are once again opening the state tournament against Shepherd, which finished first in the east. Sanders County has a lot to be proud of when it comes to track and field, with several athletes being crowned divisional champions in their respective events this past weekend. Starting with Noxon's own Ricky Williams, who took first place in triple jump clearing 41 feet 10 inches, Williams would go on to take sixth place in the long jump clearing 19'6". Hawks Aubrey Baxter and Solveig Nygaard took to the Marias Valley golf course in Shelby last Wednesday and Thursday to take on the state tournament where Baxter took sixth place. On the first day Baxter shot a 95 finding six fairways and four greens in regulation while keeping her putts to 42. It was a bitter ending of the season for the U15 Clark Fork Soccer Alliance, but that didn't stop the kids from cheering with their coaches at the game's end. The Butte Mining City defeated the Clark Fork Soccer Alliance boys 11-0 at Amundson Sports Complex at Plains on Saturday. More than 80 people showed up for the Plains High School Exhibition 2024 last Monday to see first hand the talents of the school's art students.
