When two teams meet, there has to be a winner and there has to be a loser. The Thompson Falls-Noxon Blue Hawks and the Plains-Hot Springs Trotters entered the Western B Divisional Tournament on the same side of the bracket last weekend. Opening round losses for both teams set the county rivals up to face off Friday in a loser-out match in which there could only be one winner. The Trotters opened the divisional tournament against Manhattan, falling 12-10. The Hawks met Florence-Carlton in the...

After a cloudy Saturday in Plains the Clark Fork Soccer Alliance Senior Boys have much to smile about. Entering the day with an outside shot at first place and a chance to repeat as league champions after their 2021 first-place finish, the Clark Fork boys could be forgiven for being disappointed with the outcome of the day. But a strong game against Frenchtown and a calm workman like game against Columbia Falls secured the needed two wins and a second-place finish on the season. Clark Fork's...

But that was not the case for many Montanans big and small. Volunteers cooked burgers and...

It's time for one Plains High School science teacher to hang up his Bunsen burner, calorimeters and beakers in search of new horizons. Carl Benson will have the normal list of chores to do at home. He would like to lend a hand at his parent's ranch in Drummond, and explore new places in Montana with his wife, Denise. He might be leaving the science class, but you can't take the science out of him. There's one thing he's wanted to do for a long time and that's to visit firsthand one of the...
