by Rudolf Boukal I had the pleasure of meeting with Leah Schwier, a student who attended Noxon High School, and who has now graduated completing her final year as a senior. Schwier is 18 years old and had attended Noxon Schools for both her elementary and high school years. She was initially not drawn to the visual arts, but after being involved with other students, and observing their interest and enthusiasm, she found herself drawn to the world of art more and more. Through her time at Noxon...
The Hot Springs Savage Heat and the Noxon Red Devils were undefeated in conference play going into Friday night's homecoming game in Hot Springs High School. The game was a pivotal moment in the season for both teams, as the winner will likely end up on top of the Western 6-man conference. In the end, the Savage Heat prevailed in a 38-26 home win. "We've come a long way on the offensive side and scored a lot more points," Hot Springs Coach Jim Lawson said after the game. "We have improved quite...

When the Bigfork Valkyries walked into the Thompson Falls High School gym on Saturday, they were undefeated and hadn't even lost a set yet this season. When they left, they were still undefeated, but the Blue Hawks showed they are a force to be reckoned with as the Hawks handed the Vals their first set loss of the season. Bigfork defeated Thompson Falls in four sets during an intense afternoon of volleyball in Thompson Falls in which the Hawks kept up with the Vals stride for stride. Bigfork...

The Thompson Falls boys finished second as a team in Arlee, and junior Cael Thilmony was second among the...
The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks lost their matchup against the Florence Falcons with a score of 8-49. While the Hawks did lose this matchup, they had a promising early game against the former 11-man state champions. “We did well in the first half, completing passes and we were playing as a team. Energy was high,” says sophomore quarterback Bryson LeCoure. The Hawks started the game with an early interception. Quickly recovering, a fumble in the Falcon’s backfield was recovered by the Hawks and carried to the endzone for a Blue Hawk touch...

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is inviting the public to two virtual open houses on October 13 concerning the MT 200 Bridge Preservation project. The bridge, constructed in 1957, was inspected by the MDT Bridge Bureau in 2020 and plans have since been in development to replace the bridge deck (driving surface) and guardrails. The virtual open houses will be held via Zoom on October...

One person died as the result of a plane crashing into the Flathead River near Perma on Sunday. The crash was reported about 8:45 a.m. to the Sanders County Sheriff's Office (SCSO). The crash was reported east of the Perma bridge. SCSO reported that upon further investigation, it was determined the plane struck the power lines, causing the crash. The Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District's water rescue team was deployed. They removed the occupant of the plane, as well as a bystander who had swam...
Training a livestock guardian dog to be a livestock guardian dog has been an interesting journey. Yes, Dax is still a puppy and yes, Dax still has that vibrant, puppy energy. I'm used to Husky and German Shepard energy. Dax and his half Pyrenees, half Anatolian Shepherd energy is a completely different story. Am I in over my head here? Absolutely not. I love a little chaos. Even as I sit here writing this, Dax is on the couch destroying the last oven mitt in the house. Why am I letting him do...
