    John Hamilton|Oct 31, 2019

Thompson Falls volleyball coach Sandra Kazmierczak's internal holiday clock must be ticking a little fast. She thinks the best time of the year is now, and not at that time around the holiday season, which is still a few months away. "This is the best time of the year, tournament time," she insisted. "This is when every match, every set, every point counts more. The girls are excited and we are ready for the district tournament in Mission." The 2019 District 7B tournament will be played in...

Just another day at the gridiron office. Now 9-0 for the season and the 2019 Western Conference 6-Man champs, the Savage Heat will host 4-4 Harlowtown-Ryegate, the No. 4 seeded team from the south, at 1 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the State 6-Man playoffs. The Heat opened the season with a 34-12 win over the E...

Hard on the heart but good for the soul. And worthy of a heroes’ welcome. Clearly fired up about their feisty football team, Red Devil fans quickly organized a welcome-home party complete with fire engines and cop cars for the team’s arrival back in the West End late Satur...

It was fun while it lasted but the Plains Horsemen are finished with football for the season after routing Troy 48-12 in Plains Friday. Coach Eddie Fultz and his Horsemen complete season play with a 4-4 record in Western 8-Man action. Plains finished sixth in final conference standings, behind Seeley-Swan, which also finished 4-4 but defeated Plains in their head-to-head meeting earlier this season. “It’s always nice to finish the season with a win and a winning record,” Fultz said. “It would have been nice to make the playoffs – and I don’t t...

Charlo and Hot Springs largely held serve during the regular season, now it’s time to see if form holds true in 14C volleyball. Plains Piranhas Swim Team President Dan Helterline (left) presents an appreciation plaque to Quinn's Hot Springs Resort General Manager Denise Moreth for allowing the swim team to use the resort's pool for free last year when the Plains community pool was out of commission. Helterline said the Piranhas trained at the Quinn's pool twice a week for about an hour. They also trained at the Polson pool....
