    The November scores are in! Players in the GFWC Thompson Falls Pinochle Marathon wasted no time setting up their matches and getting them played before the Thanksgiving holiday. The annual Pinochle Marathon supports the Blanche Hurlburt Scholarship program for the club and is sponsored each fall and concludes in the spring. November Marathon scores held both the highest and lowest scores recorded during this year’s marathon so far.     My first week as mayor has been what I call orientation, with so much going on. Starting at my desk, reading files, meeting with the departments, getting to know “the team.” I'd like to remind residents about Ordinance No. 358 regarding parking on Mian Street. The ordinance prohibits parking on Main Street (Highway 200) in Thompson Falls between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. The ordinance is in effect from November 15 through March 15.     The Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority (BSPRA) has been awarded a $150,000 grant through the Pacific Northwest Economic Region’s Regional Infrastructure Accelerator (PNWER-RIA) to further high-performance rail across the region.     Sanders County Elections staff on Wednesday conducted a recount of two municipal races. The votes for Thompson Falls City Council seats in Ward 1 and Ward 3 were recounted at the Sanders County Courthouse. While one count was changed by one vote, the overall results did not change with the recount. According to state law, a candidate can file for a recount within five days after the official canvass if the candidate is defeated by a margin of less than one-quarter of 1% or 10 or fewer votes.
