Area families will get assistance during the holidays this year. Area churches gather donations each year and distribute baskets containing Thanksgiving meals to local families in need. More than 100 families are helped by the program each year. Monetary and food donations are needed for the program. Each basket costs between $70 and $80. Thompson Falls schools kicked off Red Ribbon Week activities on Tuesday with a "Donut Do Drugs" event at the high school. Students signed a banner that read "Graduation Matters – I'm Drug Free!" pledging to stay drug free. The students were also given donuts and red wristbands for making the pledge. The annual Harvest Party for the community was held at the Langford Ranch last Sunday afternoon. Fine weather and a good turnout lent to fun for all.
