“It takes a village to get all this done,” said Liz Stender, chair of the Trout Creek Community Improvement Association (TCCIA), when asked about their soon to be installed pickleball court. Stender and the TCCIA are just hot off the heels from putting in a new Trout Creek playground just feet from where the proposed court site will be. A few months ago, Stender received a call from Judy Erwin, a Trout Creek resident, who plays pickleball with a group in Thompson Falls. Stender started doing some research on the sport to see what putting in...

She spoke about the teaching style, which she referred to as Montessori. “I’ve been teaching for a long time and this style is the one I have seen proven time and time ag...

Every now and then I find myself stressed with my morning routine. Maybe I slept in or I have a lot of work scheduled on the calendar, but I notice a sense of frustration as I am rushed to get my “farm chores” done so I can get on with my day. Watering the gardens, planting seed starts, collecting eggs, getting breakfast to all the animals; this all needs to be done before the heat of the day hits. Not to mention, this is all happening before the coffee has even had a chance to kick in. I start to wonder why I decided to go this route. The who...

It took the American Legion at Thompson Falls less than 30 minutes to put more than 200 flags to the flames in a proper retirement for Old Glory last Monday. "A flag may be a flimsy bit of printed gauze or a beautiful banner of finest silk. It's intrinsic value may be trifling or great, but its real value is beyond price, for it is a precious symbol of all that we and our comrades have worked for and died for - a free nation of free men and women, true to the faith of the past, devoted to the id...
