  • District judge announces retirement

    Judge James Manley, who has served as a judge in 20th Judicial District Court since 2014, has announced he is retiring. Manley announced in a letter to Gov. Greg Gianforte last week that he would be retiring as district judge effective June 1. He was first appointed to the position, which includes Sanders and Lake counties, in 2013 by Gov. Steve Bullock.     Clark Fork Valley Elks is set to be the first lodge in the state to reintroduce the Antlers program. A youth community service program, the Antlers actually has very old roots among the Elks host of programs.     Jimmy McCracken changed his plea to guilty in the 20th Judicial District Court on Tuesday. He was facing the felony charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs and the misdemeanor charges of driving while a habitual offender and not having the required motor vehicle insurance.     Students will compete in the annual Sanders County Spelling Bee this week. The Sanders County Ledger and First Security Bank have sponsored the county spelling bee for 35 years.     A Trout Creek man made an initial appearance in 20th District Judicial Court on Tuesday, entering not guilty pleas to three felony charges before Judge Deborah "Kim" Christopher.
