The Lower Clark Fork Watershed Group (LCFWG) approached the county last week, asking commissioners to agree to sponsor an application for a planning grant from the state Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC). A body found on private property near Whitepine is presumed to be a missing Thompson Falls man. Sanders County employees got first-hand experience with fire extinguishers last week, but there was no emergency. The Cancer Network of Sanders County continues its first fundraiser of the year with a raffle of cash, beef, a quilt and a gun. Ticket sales began in February and are going strong and they have some nice items, said Shelley Bertrand, president of the nonprofit organization. First prize is $5,000 cash. On March 15, a federal jury convicted a Heron man of kidnapping his son in violation of a parenting plan and taking him to Costa Rica, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said.
