Judge denies release of Trout Creek man

A Trout Creek man will remain in jail until sentencing after being arrested for not following through with conditions of a previous release.

Kelly Fisher was arrested after not showing up to his interview with probation and parole and not completing the required paperwork on a charge of partner/family member assault. Sentencing has been set for Nov. 14.

Also Tuesday, Judge James Manley sentenced Evan Twiford to four years with the Department of Health and Human Services in a case from 2016. Twiford was charged with two counts of assault on a peace officer after an altercation with police at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in September 2016.

After a mental health evaluation, the recommendation from prosecutors and Twiford’s defense attorney was that he get treatment for his bipolar and schizophrenia diagnoses through DPHHS. Judge Manley said that it’sbetter for Twiford and for the community in the future if he get treatment.

The court reduced the charge against Franklin Ross Jr. from felony to misdemeanor in convicting him of a second offense of partner/family member assult. Ross Jr. was sentenced to 30 days in the Sanders County Jail.

A charlo woman entered a plea of not guilty in District Court Tuesday.Tosha McLeod was arrested during a traffic stop on Oct. 13 and is charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal posession of drug paraphernalia, obstrucing a peace officer, and driving a motor vehicle while privilege to do so is suspended.
