Glen Duff

Reverend Glen Duff passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, due to complications after surgery the previous day. Glen was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Canada, so his journey to Glory came one day short of his 87th birthday. He felt the hand of God and a specific call to preach early in his life. In his teens, he began to preach at area churches in Saskatchewan and Ontario. Soon he was invited to churches in the United States, where he eventually obtained dual citizenship. He felt a special burden for Native Peoples of both countries, and was also drawn to minister to children and the elderly, visiting shut-ins and challenged people who couldn’t attend regular church services.

Throughout the 60 plus years he was an active evangelist; he traveled all over Canada and the Pacific Northwest U.S. He preached at countless Reservations, revivals, camp-meetings and served as interim pastor on a number of occasions when a need arose. Denomination or church-affiliation was of no consequence in his mind, “loving people into the Kingdom” wherever an opening was available. Baptist, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Pentecostal, Seventh Day Adventist, Presbyterian, Mennonite, Hudderite, non-denominational, Independent churches and nearly any church where an open pulpit was offered, Reverend Duff let little stand in the way of sharing his love of the Lord and The Scripture. Living in Montana and Idaho for most of his adult life, he would often drive to Canada for extended trips with other preachers, or sometimes alone, to preach special meetings.

When he was 47 years old, he married Edna Duff, and for nearly 40 more years, they continued to travel, ministering and loving people wherever they went. They both had a unique talent for “adopting” surrogate children and grandchildren, taking them under their wings and loving them in ways that biological family often doesn’t. They were mentors and parental examples in the Lord for countless multitudes through the years. With his “Promotion to Glory,” Glen leaves a son, David Hamilton and wife, Candace in Texas; a grandson, Timothy Hamilton, also of Texas; a grandson, Di “Thadius” Braun of Superior, Mont.; and Joel Snyder of Thompson Falls, Mont. with whom he lived for the past few years.

Funeral services were held at the Plains Bible Chapel, Sunday, Oct. 29, and a graveside service followed at the Plains cemetery, as well as a potluck reception at the church. Family requests that any gifts and donations be made to local churches and charitable ministries whenever the opportunity arises.
