Schools spread holiday cheer through music

Nothing spreads holiday cheer better than good old Christmas music. Students who participate in band and choir throughout Sanders County have been working extra hard to please your ears, heart and spirit this holiday season by bringing you holiday concerts a plenty.

Noxon School District announces Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m., as the date grades K-4 take center stage in the Noxon multipurpose room. Following that performance, Noxon High School students will resume the celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 12, also in the multipurpose room.

In conjunction with Noxon concerts, a gingerbread house decorating competition will take place beginning Dec. 5, ending on Dec. 12. Voters will purchase the right to cast a vote for the best decorated gingerbread house. The winner will be announced during the Dec. 12 concert. Proceeds will go to the Noxon music scholarship fund.

Thompson Falls’ students plan to bring Christmas joy to town beginning Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., when the junior high and high school music students perform at the high school gymnasium. There will be four groups bringing forth their best in musical talents. Both junior high and high school bands and choirs will perform, and the high school select choir and jazz band will also be showcased.

Elementary students, grades K-6, from Thompson Falls will spread holiday happiness on Monday, Dec. 18, at 7:00 p.m., in the junior high gymnasium, located on the elementary school campus.

Plains Christmas concerts will begin with the elementary student’s concert, which will take place on Thursday, Dec. 14. Following this will be the high school performing Monday, Dec. 18. Both concerts will take place in the Plains High School gymnasium starting at 7 p.m.

Hot Springs students will perform their holiday music medley at school on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m.

To finish off Sanders County School’s holiday music festival, Thompson Falls’ students will hold a talent show at The Rex, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free.
