Independently owned since 1905
If you are a high school 4-H member and interested in making an income through farming or ranching, there will be classes offered in Plains you might want to check out.
Beginning in January, sessions aimed toward developing skills in financing, risk management, local marketing, new crop management and technology advances will be available to help assist aspiring farmers and ranchers.
“Planning for On-Farm Success” workshop series will explore and provide expert presenters and local networking to help each individual develop his or her own personal farming and ranching business plan. The seven courses offered in the workshop are Farm Strategic Planning, Researching Your Market, Farm Marketing and Promotion, Managing Your Financials, Financial Decision Making, Financing Your Farm, and Managing On-Farm Risks.
Students may opt for taking all seven classes, or register for individual courses. The cost for all seven classes is $100, or $75 with registration prior to Jan. 2. Individual classes are $20 each. Full registration will include a “Planning for On-Farm Success” workbook.
All workshops will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Jan. 9 to Feb. 20 at the DNRC Fire Cache, 14 Airport Road, in Plains. For more information or to register for classes, contact MSU Extension Agent Juli Thurston at 406-827-6934, or visit http://www.farmlinkmontana.org/PFOS2018.
