Sheriff identifies Trout Creek shooter, victim

Sanders County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect in a Nov. 25 shooting as William Tyree. According to a statement released by Sheriff Tom Rummel, Tyree, 64, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting 83-year-old Charles Moore during a “heated argument” in the shoulder at a residence on Hope Valley Road outside of Trout Creek.

“An adult female was found at the scene, deceased from a single gunshot wound,” Sheriff Rummel said in a statement released online. “The family has requested that her name be kept confidential and I am honoring that request.”

Moore was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital and is recovering from his injuries, according to Sheriff Rummel.
