Keg Bowl set for Dec. 30

So old men, you think you can still play some football? Here is your once-a-year chance to prove it.

The 37th annual Keg Bowl, also known as the Blue Hawk Grid Iron Club Scholarship Bowl, will be played at the old mill site east of Thompson Falls on Saturday, Dec. 30.

Grid Iron Club president Doug Willhite says that, as usual the game will kickoff at 1 p.m., and that players are asked to show up a little early armed with a dark and a light jersey, for the drafting of teams, and the ceremonial drafting of the keg for which this game was originally named.

Each player will be asked for a donation to the scholarship fund and other money raised from the big game will be put into that fund as well. As usual, the main goal of the game is to get together, play a little football and have a lot of fun while raising money for worthy causes.

The game, as always, will be played with flag football rules except for the quarterbacks, who are subject to being tackled.

Earnings from the game will also be used in support of the Babe Ruth field currently under construction south of Thompson Falls High School.
