Lady Vikes defeat Trotters

It looks like life could be a little bit rough in District 14C girls basketball this season.

For an example look no further than to coach Jessica Nagy and her Plains Trotters.

Favored to be one of the contenders for the crown in the conference, the Trotters opened 14C play Thursday with a 44-37 loss in Charlo to the Lady Vikings, one of the several other teams expected to contend for league honors in what looks to be a very even-Steven conference this season.

The Trotters made a mad rush at the Vikings late, outscoring Charlo 18-8 in the fourth quarter, but a 36-19 deficit heading into that period proved to be too much to overcome.

Jessica Thompson led the Trotters in scoring at Charlo with 11 points, Lindsay Laws scored nine, Rachel Huenink seven, AnaLisa Loberg and Natalee Deschamps three apiece, and Haley Josephson and Kara Altmiller two each.

Kaitlin Cox netted 19 points to lead Charlo to the win.

Now 0-1 in 14C play and 1-3 overall, the Trotters were to have hosted rival Thompson Falls in a non-conference game Tuesday (results were not available) and will host Arlee in a 14C contest Thursday.
