TF teacher looks for clues to past

When it comes to researching history, it isn't often that you hit a road block down every turn. But in the case of learning about the 1929 Thompson Falls High School basketball team, answers are hard to find.

Chadd Laws is a Thompson Falls High School graduate and teacher, and a past boys basketball coach and athletic director. His mom, Barb, attended Thompson Falls High School, and his dad, Hank, graduated from Noxon High School. So Chadd's history with the school runs deep.

While cleaning out a closet upstairs at the school's junior high gymnasium, Laws stumbled upon another piece of history. He found a jersey and picture of he 1929 boys basketball team. The jersey, made of wool, is in good condition, making it hard to believe it was worn by these young gentlemen pictured almost 90 years ago.

At Thompson Falls High School, cases in the commons area are filled with trophies, signed volleyballs and footballs, and pictures of the athletes of the year. Laws would like to honor the 1929 Blue Hawks by creating a shadowbox with the team picture, jersey and a list of the players.

Laws contacted the Ledger for help identifying the basketball players. In those years, the school didn't have an official annual. And looking back at issues of the Sanders County Ledger didn't produce photos of the team, either.

As such, we're reaching out to our readers to help us identify the basketball players above and help us complete this project for the school. If you recognize any of the players from the 1929, please call us at 827-3421 or email [email protected].
