H-Men set to tangle with No. 1 Arlee

Now 11-1 after wins over Charlo and Troy last week, coach Mike Cole and his Plains Horsemen have the chance to avenge their only loss of the season in Arlee Thursday.

Coach Zanen Pitts and his unbeaten Warriors, who last lost a game to Plains back in December of 2016, will come into the game as the No. 1 ranked Class C team in Montana.

Rarely challenged themselves this season, the Horsemen rode to two more wins last week.

Against Charlo in Plains Thursday, the Plains boys took control of the game with a 20-5 win of the second quarter and ended up on top 65-51 in the District 14C conference game.

Jay VonHeeder led the Horsemen with 18 points, Tanner Ovitt was good for 15, Kyle Weeks 12, Derick Curry six, Sinjin LaDeaux and Matt McCracken five each and Wyatt Weyers four.

Landers Smith scored 19 points to lead Charlo and Brady Fryberger and Tyson Petticrew added eight apiece.

The Horsemen rolled past the Troy Trojans 71-35 in Troy Friday. Details on that game were not available at press time.

Although the Arlee game is the big one this week, the Horsemen will also host Seeley-Swan in a non-conference game at Plains High School Saturday.
