Sorenson plays in Class B All-Star grid game
The much-decorated Thompson Falls student-athlete Jase Sorenson got the chance to play one more football game as a Blue Hawk, before flying away to North Dakota, in Billings Friday.
On the cusp of moving to Wahpeton, N.D. where he will attend the North Dakota State School of Science and play football for the junior college Wildcats in several weeks, Sorenson played the final high school grid game of his standout prep career in the Montana Class B All-Star game at Herb Klindt Field in Billings Friday night.
An All-State B performer for coach Jared Koskela and the Blue Hawks in football last fall, Sorenson also went on to win second place at 170 pounds in the State B-C wrestling tournament last winter, and then joined an all-star team of wrestlers from Montana for the prestigious Iowa High School Duals in Iowa a few weeks later.
Lately, Jase has been playing baseball for the Clark Fork Valley Cougs as an infielder, pitcher and catcher.
The invitation to play in the Class B All-Star game is only the latest honor to be bestowed on Sorenson. Jase’s parents Shawn and Leah made the drive to Billings last weekend for their son’s final high school football game.
If they end up making regular trips to Wahpeton for Jase’s college games is up in the air. “Wahpeton is right on the North Dakota-Minnesota state line and is a 17-hour drive from Thompson Falls,” Shawn said. “I’m not sure how often we will be able to go there.”
Shawn said that Jase will need to be in Wahpeton for the beginning of fall football practice Aug. 4.
In the game at Billings, Jase played the whole game for the North team at outside linebacker on defense, and got the chance to quarterback the offense for one series of plays. The South defeated the North 25-12.
Shawn said Jase pulled down an interception and was in on a lot of tackles in the game for the North.
