Baroque festival to feature the classics

The Clark Fork Enrichment Corporation and Quinn’s Hot Springs Resort will be sponsoring the 15th Montana Baroque Music Festival, Bach Meets Vivaldi in Paradise. The festival will run 7-9 p.m. over three nights, July 17-19. Music from Bach, Telemann and Vivaldi will be featured including performances by violinist, Monica Huggett, who teaches at the Julliard School, and Matthias Maute, a virtuoso recorder player and composer.

The first program on July 17 is titled Matthias and his Wizardry. Maute will be performing virtuosic concertos from Bach, Telemann, and Vivaldi on his recorder. There will also be selections of Bach’s solo sonatas on the violin for a wide range of musical entertainment.

Monica and Bach is the second program on July 18. Huggett will be taking the stage to perform a few of Bach’s pieces, including his A Minor Concerto and a few movements from Partitia. Maute and violinist, Sophie Lariviere are going to be performing a double concerto of Vivaldi. Violinist, Adam LaMotte will be performing Bach Chaconne which is one of his favorites.

The third and final performance on July 19 will be Brandenburg 4, which includes a spectacular violin solo from Hugget and energetic sections with the recorder.
