It was a Scratch and Scramble day at River’s Bend Monday for the Over the Hill gang.
Scratching their ways past the 37-strong field of men and women canvassing River’s Bend, Dave Garr and John Pritzkau finished first in the scramble, Jerry Neal and Darrel “Torgy” Togrimson took second, and Buck Adams, Charlie Hooten and Rusty Haggard teamed up to place third.
In other links business of the day, Mike Gilmore shot a straight-up 40 for the best low gross, Adams posted the low men’s net of 32 and Lana Nolen carded the low women’s net of 35.
In individual hole play, Garr was closest to the pin in 2 on No. 10, John Beckman put the long putt to bed on No. 11, John Mosher sank the long putt on No. 12, Gilmore put down the long putt on No. 13 and hit the long men’s drive on 18, Carter Meyer was closest to the pin on No. 14, Gary Moe smacked the long 70+ drive on No. 15, Neal cupped the long putt on No. 15, Doug Deck stroked in the long putt on No. 16, Hooten rolled in the long putt on No. 17, and Barb Wooden was doubly wonderful, putting long put down on No 18, as well as hitting the long women’s drive down that scenic River’s Bend fairway.
Moe, Don Hansen and Dennis Gripp all made chip-ins on No. 17 and Mike Smith got one down on 18.
Adams, Gilmore, Hansen and Garr were all forced to pay a heavy price for their pars on No. 13.
Now that this area’s famously friendly golfing crowd has scratched at their itch to play another round, they will all scramble back to the same place again next Monday for more fun on the fairways and greens of the Bend.
