Festival auction features football, resort packages

Like clockwork, the Huckleberry Festival auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11 on Trout Creek Park’s main stage, with sign-ups and item previewing beginning at 5 p.m. Kevin Hill, of Kevin Hill Auction Service, will be once again donating his services.

Auction Chair, Sandy Green, shared that as a bonus to purchasers, every time a purchase is made, the buyers name will be entered for a final drawing. The more you buy, the more chances you will have to win.

Green said she has collected donated items from businesses and individuals in Trout Creek, Thompson Falls, Plains, Libby, Troy, Noxon, Missoula, and Clark Fork and Sandpoint, Idaho. Additional items will be donated by more than 100 vendors in the park on auction day. Items collected so far can be viewed at http://www.huckleberryfestival.com, the official website of the Huckleberry Festival.

Auction items range from a 7-night stay at Pend Oreille Resort in Hope, Idaho, to a Seattle Seahawks package for an upcoming game, to feed for beloved pets. There will also be auction items that are geared more toward youngsters, such a Mickey Mouse fishing pole and Fingerling monkeys.

Proceeds from past auctions supported park improvements to the stage and bleacher area, upgrades to the vender booths and construction of a handicap accessible and family bathroom.

The Huckleberry Festival is working on establishing a community commercial kitchen in the park in conjunction with the Trout Creek Community Improvement Association, the Trout Creek Park Board and other interested parties.
