In Sanders County schools, the foreign exchange program has been a long tradition that has resulted in lifelong friendships with an “out-of-towner,” and unique memories and experiences for the students visiting.
Nancy Winebrenner of Hot Springs has been working with International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) for years, assisting visiting students in finding temporary local homes, giving them a school-year-long glimpse into American life and Montana culture. This year, Winebrenner is down to crunch time trying to find willing families to take in this round of students.
“We are down to the wire for our placement season and still have two students who need host families,” said Winebrenner, “if you or someone you know could help out, even temporarily, it would make a world of difference for these kids.”
Host families should be able to provide room and board, as well caring parental guidance. Students may share a bedroom with family members but must have their own bed.
