Attorney Naomi Leisz of Trout Creek will be the only candidate on the ballot for Sanders County Attorney this fall.
Earlier this month, current county attorney Bob Zimmerman withdrew his bid for re-election. Because the race is non-partisan, state law required the county to open the race for 10 days. Interested parties had until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, to file for the position. According to Sanders County Clerk and Recorder Nichol Scribner, no one filed for the position.
Ballots for the Nov. 5 general election will be mailed Oct. 12.
October 5 and 6, The Sanders County Ledger will sponsor candidate forums to allow voters to get to know candidates better. The forums will be moderated and include questions for the candidates, as well as time for audience members to ask questions of candidates for local elections. The forums will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at The Paradise Center and Saturday, Oct. 6, 4-6 p.m. at The Rex Theatre.
