SCCDC announces business workshops

This fall Sanders County Community Development Corporation (SCCDC) is inviting all business owners to participate in multiple training opportunities targeted to strengthen efficiency, determine best management practices, reveal business needs, and develop resource networking all while becoming more marketable.

The Thompson Falls courses begin on September 14, at the State Offices Building, with Business Planning. This class is designed to help entrepreneurs develop a business plan that will be the foundation for success. Identifying your market, management needed to become successful, how to separate yourself from competitors and developing a financial analysis will all be discussed.

On September 21, Marketing and Sales on a Small Budget will be offered. This course is designed to inform trainees to marketing concepts, approaches, analysis, execution and highlight marketing plan necessities.

Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet I and II will be offered on September 28 and October 12. SCCDC stated this is “an effective class offered to help you gain comfort and a solid understanding of Microsoft Excel.” Formula functions, data analysis and data presentation points will be addresses. The second session will build on the foundations established in the initial class.

Lastly, on October 26, Cash Flow will be taught. “Cash flow is kind for small businesses,” according to SCCDC. The course will help develop mastery of financial projection and synchronizing the timing of cash flowing in and out of the business.

Hot Springs will host QuickBooks I and II on November 9 and 30 respectively, at the Hot Springs Senior Center. This first course will be an introduction to the program and provide instruction on how to manage sales, perform invoicing, tracking incomes and expenses, reconcile accounts, and create reports to understand business finances and trends. Session two will continue to build on the capabilities available through QuickBooks.

“We work with small businesses to understand their needs,” SCCDC stated. They encourage anyone interested in developing skills not currently offered at one of these workshops to contact them, so they can accommodate that need.

All classes are free to attend and will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. For more information visit sanderscounty.org/workshops-trainings or contact SCCDC at 827-6935. To register for any of the courses call (406) 676-5901.
