The City of Thompson Falls is creating a Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), and is looking for the public’s input on what projects should be considered.
This week, the city sent flyers home with Thompson Falls students regarding a (CIP) survey. The survey is available online at http://www.cityofthompsonfalls.com, or at city hall.
According to City Clerk Chelsea Peterson, the CIP is a budgeting and financial tool that will be used by the Thompson Falls City Council for maintaining and improving capital facilities such as streets, water systems, the sewer, stormwater, buildings, parks and trails and equipment.
The survey results will help the city council in prioritzing projects. The survey asks participants to rate the current conditions of the city’s infrastructure and services, as well as the importance of different services.
Surveys will need to be completed online or returned to City Hall by Sept. 30. Great West Engineering will then compile results and present the preliminary findings at an open house on Nov. 12, prior to the regular city council meeting.
Cost of the survey is $30,0000, with $20,000 of that coming from grants and $10,000 from the city.
