Always young Hill gang plays away

If you can’t beat ‘em, why not join ‘em?

Always looking for new blood, the Over the Hill golfing gang engaged in another day of fun play Monday morning at River’s Bend as 33 league members, plus two visiting pros, were canvassing the course this time around the Bend.

Mike Gilmore had the best scratch round of the day for the men with the low gross of 37 and Sam Burt factored in his handicap to arrive at the low men’s net of 27. Liz Morkert carded the low women’s net of 33.

In pin play, visiting pro Bill Nolen was closest to the flag in 2 on No. 10, Gary Thompson delivered with the long putts on Nos. 11 and 13, Jens Jantzen rolled in the long putt on No. 12, Mike Normadin was closest to the pin on No. 14, Doug Deck smacked the long 70+ drive on No. 15, John Torres tucked the long putt into the hole on No. 15, Allen Adams ( the other touring pro visiting the Bend this week) knocked down the long putt on No. 16, Gilmore was good for the long putt on No. 18, and Dave Tallant converted the long putt on No. 17 and hit the long drive of the day on No. 18.

Gary Moe (No. 15), Dave Garr (16), Rick Kendall (17) and Larry Eddy (18) made chip-in shots part of their Over the Hill rounds. Thompson, Ron Belger and John Pritzkau were forced to pay for pars.

Weather permitting and bodies willing, the Over the Hill gang will meet up for another fun round at River’s Bend next Monday morning.
