FSPW shares info at picnic

In thanks for community support for wilderness causes, the Friends of the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness (FSPW) organization invited their friends and the public to a free picnic last Sunday.

While weather mostly cooperated, attendees enjoyed barbecued burgers and all the sides while hearing a recap of the year from FSPW board chair and Montana Outreach Coordinator, Doug Ferrell. Also present was Sanders County Outreach Coordinator, Ray Brown, who noted that the turn out was good. “The purpose was really just to thank everyone for their support and helping us wrap up another great year celebrating the beauty around us,” shared Brown, who added there was not a fundraising angle or any big news for the region’s pristine backcountry.

As far as fundraising goes, there is an online opportunity to help and take home some artwork. FSPW announced the beginning of their Online WILD Art Auction that went live Tuesday morning. In addition to art up for grabs, there is also Golden Growlers from Matchwood Brewing Company. Featured artists include Ed Robinson, Marilyn McIntyre, Aaron Johnson, Susan Conway Kean, Carol Maddux and many other area artists inspired by the Scotchman Peaks.

Winning bidders may pick up their items at the FSPW office at 323 N. First, Suite 205 in Sandpoint, or call 208-265-4236 to arrange shipping.
