Trotters are gaining momentum

Start slow and finish fast.

That has seemed to be the Plains Trotters modus operandi the past few volleyball seasons, and this year’s Trotter net entourage seems to be following the same script.

Playing very well lately, the Trotters avenged an earlier home loss to Noxon by defeating the Lady Red Devils 26-24, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18 in Noxon Thursday.

“The key for us is to persevere,” Plains coach Jesse Butcher said. “Our girls have what it takes to be a successful team, we just need to hang in there and come together at the right time.”

In another outstanding recent result, the Trotters defeated Thompson Falls for a rare win over their Class B rivals in Plains back on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

“It’s been a while since we had defeated Thompson Falls,” Butcher said, “so we were pretty happy with that one, too.”

Emma Morgan led the Trotters to the win over Noxon with eight kills and five service aces, Rachel Huenink had six stuff blocks, Haley Josephson 18 set assists and Audrey Brown 17 digs.

The Trotters have a big District 10C conference week on tap, hosting Hot springs Thursday and visiting Charlo Saturday.
