Cancer Network holds fall fundraiser

When Sanders County residents are in need, neighbors step up. That was the sentiment expressed by Cancer Network of Sanders County (CNSC) board member Kathy Miller at the groups annual Fall Extravaganza Thursday at the Plains VFW.

Miller said that when the group started, one-time gifts of $50 were given to Sanders County residents undergoing cancer treatments. As support for CNSC grew, so did the group's support of cancer patients. As of today, CNSC is able to provide $900 gifts annually to those battling cancer.

The Falls Extravaganza included dinner prepared by CNSC vice president Carol Brooker, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and a live auction. Kevin Hill of Kevin Hill Auction Services entertained the crowd and encouraged patrons to raise their bid cards for the organization.

John Clark took over as president of CNSC earlier this year and has been involved with the organization for four years. He was happy with the turnout at the event.

"There are a lot of people in this area that are really in need of sevices like this," Clark said.
