Bazaar season nears

Sanders County has a long history of being quite crafty. The tradition also carries a lengthy history of Christmas-time bazaars as a venue for the clever, local-minded vendors and shoppers of the area.

Always the Saturday of the first full weekend in December, the Sanders County Christmas Bazaar tags along with the town’s Christmas on Main Street events. Slated for Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“There will be plenty to do for visitors and kids, and Santa will be there for pictures from noon until around 3 p.m.,” said organizer Janie McFadgen. “And, as the tradition goes, once all expenses are paid for the event proceeds will go to the Sheriff’s Christmas Relief Fund that gets presents to children and families in the county.” McFadgen noted that vendor spaces are about half full, although she expects an influx just after the first week of November.

Also on McFadgen’s to-do list is the Paradise School Bazaar, that will take place Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Vendor spaces are still available for $10 or $20. For more information call Janie McFadgen at 880-1506.

First Lutheran Church in Plains will hold their annual bazaar Saturday, Nov.10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All vendors and items are from within the congregation and proceeds go to various local and international charities. A soup, bread and pie lunch will be available. For more information, call Karen at 826-3182.

Trout Creek School’s Holiday Bazaar is slated for Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gymnasium. Arts and crafts take center stage and will be highlighted with door prizes (must be present to win). Proceeds from the Scholastic book fair will go to the school library, money from sales of Usborne greeting cards will go to the music program, the ski club will raise money selling Ranch Chocolates, and concession sales will benefit the annual eighth grade trip. Booth spaces are $25. For more information call 827-3629.

The Trout Creek Bazaar will take place at the Trout Creek Senior Center, Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spaces are $10 each. In addition to the vendors and their many items for sale, soup, rolls and cinnamon rolls will be available for purchase. For more information, leave a message at 827-4461.

Noxon PTO Bazaar will take place at the school Sunday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be gifts available for all ages, as well as a bake sale and goodies available at the concession stand. Door prizes, a kids corner and coloring contest will keep attendees busy between visiting vendor booths. A silent auction will take place, and an ‘ugly sweater contest’ will have shoppers out in their finest yuletide attire. For more information, contact Cecilia Beardsley at 847-2052.
