Coach Doree Thilmony and her Lady Hawks opened season play at Libby Saturday and lost 51-32 to the homestanding Class A Lady Loggers.
The 0-1 Lady Hawks will continue their non-conference schedule this week with a pair of games in the District 1B-7B Shootout in Eureka, playing Conrad Friday and Choteau Saturday.
Thilmony was happy with how her Lady Hawks competed in Libby.
“It was a good outing,” she said. “It was good to dust off the cobwebs and get out there and play again.”
Thilmony said that the Hawks went through some shooting cold spells in Libby. “The first and third quarters really hurt us,” she said, “and Libby has some good players.”
Two of those good players, Jayden Winslow and Allie Collins scored 22 and 12 points each, respectively to lead the Loggers to the win.
On the other side of things, Megan Baxter led the Lady Hawks with 12 points, 13 rebounds and a blocked shot, Jody Detlaff and Maya Stiles added six points each, Faith Frields four, Riley Wilson two, and Sarah Detlaff and Elli Pardee one apiece.
Frields and Sarah Detlaff had three steals each, Stiles registered four assists, Jody Detlaff grabbed three rebounds and Frields,

Wilson and Pardee two apiece.
Thilmony is looking ahead to some interesting games in Eureka this weekend.
“We are expecting physical games against a couple of traditionally tough teams from the Northern B, which is known as one of the tougher conferences in Montana,” she said. “We are really looking forward to these games, they should both be very good tests for us.”
