Points are not supposed to be this hard to come by.
The St. Regis Tigers spoiled the Noxon Lady Red Devils’ home opener 31-23 in Noxon Thursday as coach Ryan Weltz’s Devils had trouble scoring from the offset.
“I have to give credit where credit is due; St. Regis played good defense and took us out of our flow,” Weltz said. “But we could not seem to find our offensive groove either, it was just not our day.”
Weltz’s daughter Delaney was the only Lady Devil who truly got untracked offensively against St. Regis and she scored 16 points to lead Noxon, Avery Burgess added six for the Devils and Kali Murray one.
Scoring for St. Regis was not available.
In other non-conference action last week, the Devils went to Idaho Tuesday (Dec. 4) and defeated Clark Fork 42-33. Delaney Weltz scored 19 points to lead Noxon to that win, Chelsea Vohs added eight, Burgess seven, Murray six and Madi Koonce two.
“Clark Fork is a good team, it was a hard-fought game,” coach Weltz offered. “We feel good about coming out of it with a win.”
The Devils play twice this week, hosting Troy Thursday and visiting Two Eagle River in Pablo Friday.
