The 14C Hot Springs Savage Heat boys and girls ventured into Missoula Friday to complete the 2018 portion of their schedule with non-conference games against the Valley Christian Eagles. The Hot Springs girls won their game with Valley 52-24 while the boys lost theirs 40-31.
McKennzie Cannon went off for 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Savage Heat to their win, Lizzy Fisher added six points, Sydney Jackson and Sage Jackson five apiece, Katelyn Christensen four and Brianna Gray two.
Emma Hiltz and Mackenzie Dierking scored six points each for Valley and Naomin Murphy five.
In the boys game at Missoula, Tyler Carr led the Heat with 11 points, Tyler Knudsen scored nine, Luke Waterbury and Jack McAllister four each, Benedict Waterbury two and Kyle Lawson one.
Riley Reimer and Ty Messner scored seven points each for Valley Christian and Dominic Danzer and Branson Becker five apiece.
In other action last week, the Savage Heat hosted the Mission boys and girls Tuesday and the Bulldogs won both of those games. The Bulldogs girls topped the Savage Heat girls 67-29 and the Bulldog boys stopped the Heat boys 88-57.
Cannon scored 11 points to lead the Savage Heat girls, Sydney Jackson added seven, Gray and Christensen four apiece, Danielle Graham two and Fisher one.
The Lady Bulldogs put four scorers in double figures as Addison Arlint counted 14 points, Karolyna Buck and Azia Umphrey had 13 each and Sydney Brander 10.
Knudsen poured in 28 points to lead the Heat boys in that game with Mission, McAllister scored nine, Luke Waterbury eight, Carr and Lawson five apiece and Kawika Ilac two.
Jacob Hugs (22 points), Jedi Christy (18) and Flint McPherson and Wacey McClure (14 each) led Mission.
Hot Springs hoop teams are now off until Jan. 3 when they will host the rival Noxon Red Devils for a boy-girl doubleheader.
