Lady Hawks sweep Devils, Cats

Take two and keep on rolling?

The Lady Hawks won two non-conference games on the road last week, taking down the Red Devils 43-40 in Noxon Tuesday, Jan. 15 and defeating Clark Fork 47 to something in Superior Friday. A final score from the Clark Fork game was not available at press time, but coach Doree Thilmony said the Hawks did indeed win that game.

Hoping the twin wins last week will spark the Lady Hawks for the rest of the season, Thilmony and company have two games against Western B teams this week, hosting Troy Friday and visiting Anaconda Saturday.

Jody Detlaff and Megan Baxter led the Lady Hawks to the win over Clark Fork with 20 and 18 points each, respectively, Faith Frields added five and Sarah Detlaff and Danni Van Huss two apiece.

Baxter also speared 13 rebounds and swatted away five blocked shots, Jody Detlaff had seven boards and three assists, Sarah Detlaff four rebounds and two assists, Frields five assists and four steals, and Riley Wilson three steals and three rebounds.

Scoring for Clark Fork was not available.

The Lady Hawks won in Noxon thanks in large part to a 15-4 win of the third quarter.

Jody Detlaff scored 10 points and blocked two shots for the Hawks in that game, Baxter canned eight points, pulled down 13 rebounds, grabbed four steals and blocked two shots, Frields added eight points and three steals, Sarah Detlaff six points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals, Maya Stiles six points, five rebounds and two steals, Elli Pardee four points and four rebounds and Wilson a point, two assists and two steals.
