Rep. takes pride in legislative process
Dear All,
This past week saw a big increase in activities. House bills are now showing up in the Senate committees and Senate bills have even progressed to the House floor. The Senate met on Saturday and the House will be meeting next Saturday if the current schedule holds true.
Two bills that I presented this week to the Judiciary Committee were HB 242 and HB 282. HB 242 limits use of cell phones while driving in an active work zone to try and protect the workers from distracted drivers. HB 282 is meant to protect students or residents in any emotional treatment facility from the threat of sexual preditors working there. The committee will probably take action on these two bills later in the week. I have other bills I will present to the Senate committees in the upcoming week. You can look these up on the legislative web site under my name.
On Thursday night, we had the Governor's State of the State address in the House Chambers, followed by the rebutle speech by the President of the Senate in the Senate Chambers. On Friday, during our House session, we had Senator Daines address the entire House body with information on what is happening in Washington. It was quite a week of pomp and ceremony, but a it gave me a great sense of pride to be part of this process.
Please check on our activities on Montana Legislative web site.
