Many reasons to support wastewater project

Dear Editor,

I am in favor of moving forward with Phase I and II of the wastewater project. I would like the City Council to vote in favor of this and would like to encourage everyone in favor to send a note or email to City Hall, by the end of this week, expressing their support.

The wastewater project is needed to help address the septic problems that are happening and will continue to happen. These are things that we know for sure: 1. If you eat, you have to poop. 2. Septic systems on the hill are failing and there is not enough room on most lots to put in a proper system. 3. Septic regulations are going to become more stringent not less so. 4. The hill has lots of rocks and the engineers know this, due to having work done on the water system and this has been taken into account when estimating project costs. 5. The funding package is very generous and who knows if funding like this will be possible in the future. I think not!! 6. Costs for construction are only going to go up. This problem has been put off too long and the costs for it have at least doubled since last looked at. 7. Our sewage, from the poorly working septic systems, is polluting the groundwater. It is not, out of sight out of mind, or that dilution is the solution to our wastes. 8. It is better to be proactive than reactive. It might come to the point where the state or federal government will tell us we have to do it and they will not provide any funding. 9. Sales of homes could be affected due to substandard septic systems in place.

These are a few reasons for approving the project. Please support it.

Mark Sheets,

Thompson Falls
