Plains teams getting ready

The Plains track and field and golf teams have their athletes and coaches on board, now it is up to Mother Nature as to when the meets and matches can actually begin in snow-choked western Montana.

In track and field, long-time head coach Denise Montgomery and assistant James Jermyn return to guide Plains and, in golf, Lisa Brown returns to coach the Trotters and on-again, off-again coach Don Stamm (who also had quite a career coaching Plains track and field as well as golf in the past) has signed on to once again coach boys golf.

A preliminary list of athletes have signed on for Plains track and field and includes seniors Cameron Hill, Malachi Paulsen, Orion Pry-Hyde and Rachel Huenink, juniors Kylee Altmiller, Audrey Brown, Cree Lulack, Justice Olmos and Charlie Rehbein, sophomores Adam Aguilera, Noah Anderson, Peter Carey, Tucker Foster, Gabe Gamboa, AJ Jermyn, Rachel McNulty, Deriyan Sheehan and Mariah Smith and freshmen Lexa Craft, Adelle Ercanbrack, Jacob Johnson and Travis Mitchell.

The Plains golf team currently has seven members, with sophomores Duncan Chisholm, Nick Gumm and Kade Pardee signed up for the boys, and junior Miera Loberg, sophomore McKenna O’Lexey and freshmen Taylor Angle and Grace Horton hitting the fairways for the girls.

Given the numerous projected schedule changes that will be made in the next few weeks to accommodate unmelted snow, those changes will be made

and announced when made available.

The Plains golf team is tentatively scheduled to play in the Florence/Darby Invitational in Hamilton on April 11, and the track and field team is set to attend the Jim Johnson Memorial in Frenchtown March 29.
