The basketball seasons are over and students have moved on to spring sports including golf, track and softball. But Thompson Falls High School gym will be filled with equine hoopsters on May 6 as donkey basketball comes to town.
TFHS students and staff will take on a team of alumni and community members. The event begins with a barbecue at 5:30 p.m. and donkey tipoff at 6.
Tickets are available in advance from the high school office. Prices are $8 for adults, $6 for students in grades 7-12, and $4 for grades K-6. Tickets at the door will be $1 more.
Also at the event May 6, students and staff will be selling "Team Diane" bracelets for $5 each.
Donkey basketball is presented by the Jobs for Montana Graduates, the student council and National Honor Society. Jobs for Montana Graduates is a class offered at TFHS that focuses on employability skills, civic engagement, community service and social skills.
The groups are raising money for elementary secretary Diane Hedahl and her family in their battle against cancer. Hedahl has requested that funds raised be donated to the Cancer Network of Sanders County, a local organization.
