Brubaker, Weltzes lead Noxon

Levi Brubaker and Rylan Weltz won events to lead the Noxon Red Devil track and field team in the Dave Tripp Memorial in Polson Friday.

The reigning State C champion and Noxon school record-holder in the triple jump, Brubaker marked 42 feet, 11 inches to win the event in the Tripp in addition to finishing second in the long jump and sixth in the 100 meter dash.

Weltz won the Tripp discus title with s best throw of 127-0, besides taking second in the shot put (42-0) and sixth in the javelin.

Brothers Edison and Cade VanVleet, Michael Antonich and the Devils’ 1600 meter relay team completed team scoring for the Noxon boys in Polson.

Edison VanVleet won third place in the 110 meter hurdles, fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 400 meter run, little big brother Cade took fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus, Antonich ran down sixth in the 800 meters and the 1600 relay squad finished sixth in that race.

On the girls side of the meet, Rylan Weltz’s little big sister Delaney led the Lady Devils, winning third place in the javelin and shot put, and taking sixth in the discus.

Elizabeth Lampshire’s sixth place win in the 1600 meters was the Lady Devils’ only other individual scoring in the Tripp meet.

Coach Matt Havens and his Devil thinclads will continue season action this week, participating in the Thompson Falls Invitational Tuesday (results were not available at press time) and in the Seeley-Swan Invitational in Missoula Saturday.
