Trotters play in Western B-C tourney Friday

Now it is all about keeping the momentum going – and taking that momentum with you all the way to Belgrade.
The Plains-Hot Springs Trotters completed regular season play with three wins last week, avoiding a potential play-in game earlier this week and advancing on to the Western B-C divisional tournament in Anaconda this weekend as the No. 2 seeded team.
The Western B-C tourney starts Friday and runs through Saturday in Anaconda, with the top four teams then moving on to the State B-C tournament in Belgrade May 24-25.
Coach Michelle Bangen and her Trotters want to be one of those teams moving on to Belgrade. Although a schedule for the Western B-C was not available, Bangen said she thought the Trotters would be facing either Ennis or Deer Lodge in their first game Friday.
"We are totally capable of moving on but we can take nothing for granted," Bangen said. "It's going to be tough in Anaconda, we are just going to have to play hard and play smart to get through."
The Trotters played hard and smart last week, topping Sanders County rival Thompson Falls 9-6 in Thompson Falls Friday before trekking to Troy and handing the Lady Trojans a pair of losses, winning those games 17-2 and 10-0.
At Troy, freshman Celsey VonHeeder pitched the 17-2 win, striking out five, walking five and issuing only four walks.
Madison Elliott blasted a home run and hit a single, driving in six runs to lead the Trotter offense, Kenzie Angle rapped out a pair of doubles and a single and drove in two more runs, and Syd Jackson, Natalee Deschamps, Kassidy Kinzie and Skylar Bergstrom added an RBI each.
In the second game of Trotter domination in the land of Troy, the 10-0 game, Kinzie pitched allowing four hits, walking only one and striking out eight.
Kelsey Standeford hit two singles and a sacrifice fly, driving in three runs for P-HS, Angle again hit two doubles and drove in two more runs, Deschamps doubled and also drove in two runs, and Sage Jackson and Kinzie added RBIs.
Both games in Troy only went five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
